Testimonials
We have eight Rob Grad artworks now, including three in the office where I work. His work is beautiful, but something deeper lurks behind the beauty.

It is even more gorgeous than I had anticipated. It just kind of floated out of the packaging with some kind of magic pixie dust leftover from the journey. Thank you for being your amazing self and always continuing to inspire.

I didn’t want just another piece of art - I wanted a reflection of my life and the things important to me. It’s an amazing work of art that makes me smile and reflect every time I look at it.

THE PROCESS
Meticulous Attention to Detail
My artmaking process has evolved over many years of trial, error and experimentation. I use a blend of my photography, painting, drawing, and poetry, which I cut and layer together to create three-dimensional mixed media assemblages.
All prints are images meticulously created from the three-dimensional works using the finest archival inks and papers.
It’s All About the Music
The layers in my artwork reflect my background in music. I got signed to RCA Records during college. It was an exhilarating time, and I enjoyed the ride, but art was a dream that I couldn’t shake. A soul-searching solo trip through Europe finally ignited my passion, leading me to set my guitar aside and embrace the world of art.
Finding Depth
I often get told that my artwork looks like music. I hand paint shapes on paper, using the outlines to laser cut larger panels before attaching them together, revealing some elements of each image, hiding others. This gives the work an organic feel with depth. Just as we have layers to our characters, personalities and personal stories, my art relfects that depth physically.
Feeling Connected–Nature vs. Urban
The inspiration for my imagery comes from both natural and urban environments. Nature is where I feel most myself. Where I feel connected and can gather perspective. But it’s in my regular day-to-day life where my insights are tested and refined.
The Bigger Picture
In facing my own difficulties, I’ve come to believe that behind the boundaries of race, religion, color, politics and wealth, our global issues are largely manmade. In my work I seek to question the validity of the belief systems that separate us. Because at our base level, we are connected. This is the genesis of empathy, and in my view, how many of the world’s problems can be alleviated.
