Rob Grad is an artist, musician, and writer known for his dynamic 3D photo-based assemblages, sculptures, poetry, and performances that ignite emotional connection and inspire bold self-expression. His layered visuals—fusing photographic vignettes of natural landscapes with urban-influenced drawing, painting, and text—reflect a life lived between wild creativity and grounded spirituality.
Deeply shaped by two decades in Venice Beach, CA, and a lifelong passion for pushing boundaries, Grad’s work explores the paradoxes of modern existence: the tension between desire and fulfillment, technology and humanity, solitude and connection. His recent projects integrate his early career as a signed RCA Records musician—combining visual art with live poetry and musical performance to create fully immersive, transformative experiences.
As a product of the "MTV generation"—a community that invented its identity before the rise of social media—Grad carries forward a spirit of fearless reinvention, encouraging others to embrace their creativity and see the spirit in each other through his work. His art is a call to awaken: to question, to feel, to break free of inner limitations, and to live more fully and authentically.
Grad's work has been exhibited internationally, from Basel to Miami to Los Angeles, including recently at the Museum of Art and History in Lancaster, CA as part of the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time initiative, where in addition to exhibiting his visual work, he performed a multimedia live experience. He also has large-scale commissioned works installed on both U.S. coasts, including at the LA Clippers’ new Intuit Dome, Zildjian corporate offices, San Francisco Airport, and the Wells Fargo building in Brentwood, CA.
Grad has given a TEDx Talk in Culver City, CA, and participated in a global video project for TikTok China. A native of Southern California, he lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter, where he continues to create, perform, and explore new frontiers of artistic expression.
